I wasn’t born in ease.
I was built in the aftermath.

In one of the hardest seasons of my life, art saved me.

I went from $20 to my name to building a six-figure creative business as Hawsé Sumi—turning pain into prints, and emotion into income.

I’ve been awarded multiple grants, including one of the highest honors in my career:
🏛️ The August Wilson Grant—where my work was chosen (alongside only 10 artists) to be permanently featured in the historic August Wilson House.

My work has traveled internationally—galleries in Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, and Dubai.
And nationally, it’s been shown in curated collections and city offices.

I turned brushstrokes into business.
Then came the storm.
Everything I built—gone. Again.

I was exhausted. Uninspired. Done.

Nothing I read spoke to the kind of resilience I needed.
Not The Secret. Not affirmations. Not “girlboss” advice.

So I built my own method.
Step by step. Quietly. Without hype.
